Bassenthwaite Lakeside, an exclusive privately owned holiday park is situated on the edge of Bassenthwaite Lake at the foot of the dramatic Skiddaw mountain in the National Park.

Our superb accommodation offer an idyllic setting in one of the Lakeland's most gloriously unspoilt areas.

Here you can share the woods with the red squirrels, the waterside with the wildfowl and the lake with the reflected sky. Tranquillity surrounds you in this verdant woodland setting, whilst across the lake, the mountains and fells seem to march down to meet the water, creating a vista of unique timeless beauty.

Our area boasts picturesque towns and villages, beautiful rolling countryside, stunning lake and mountain scenery, historic houses, churches, mills, mines and museums and many animal attractions suitable for families with children.

Adjacent to our Park is the spectacular Bassenthwaite Lake, Lakeland's fourth largest at 4 miles long and the shallowest at 70 feet deep. It is the only lake as all the others are meres or waters. It is home to a rare species of fish and to a great variety of wildfowl, birds and red squirrels which live along its shores. Our Park enjoys the rare privilege of being able to launch dinghies, canoes and rowing boats from it's own jetty.

Towering above the lake is the mighty Skiddaw, at 3,053 feet (930 metres) the fourth highest mountain in the Cumbria and a safe and easy 3 hour fell walk. However, here at Bassenthwaite you will find gentle lowland fells just waiting to be explored and there are many safe country lanes for cyclists too.

KESWICK

Just 5 miles to the south is the charming market town of Keswick with a wealth of shops, pubs and restaurants where you can sample a real Cumberland sausage and the local Tattie Pot or you can picnic on the banks of Derwentwater and then enjoy a lake cruise.

Keswick boasts many local attractions - The Cars of the Stars Museum, Cumberland Pencil Museum, Threlkeld Mining Museum and the Moot Hall. The town has its own leisure pool and cinema and the Theatre on the Lake offers a programme of all round entertainment.

South of Keswick is the beautiful Borrowdale valley leading to the famous Lodore Falls and the stunning views from the craggy heights of Honister Pass. Also nearby is the tranquil scenery of the twin lakes of Crummock Water and Buttermere. On the outskirts lies Castlerigg, a neolithic stone circle dating from 1500 BC surrounded by a magnificent panorama of fells.
